Opportunities to photgraph nature and wildlife include birds roosting on breakwaters at Stone Reef/Clinton Harbor, Duck Island and on the islands themselves. Birds exit the marshes at Hammonasset Beach State Park and Clinton Hammocks Marsh and settle to roost as the sun beginns to set. The light and subjects are very nice. Wading birds that roost on Duck Island and Tuxis Island also make for photogenic opportunites. Breeding bird colonies such as the terns on Faulkner Island and Great Black-backed Gulls on Duck Island are also very reachable for photographers.
